Consignment Terms

These terms govern the relationship between AATEEQ ("we", "us") and any individual or entity consigning a piece for auction or sale through AATEEQ ("you", "the consignor"). They apply alongside the Consignment and Custody Agreement you sign before anything is listed. Where the two differ, the signed agreement applies.

1. Submission & Authentication

All submissions come through our Sell With Us form. It is the only route in: the form gathers the photographs and detail we need, and keeps everything about your piece in one place.
You are welcome to message us on WhatsApp first with a question, but we cannot assess a piece from a chat.
We will assess authenticity, age, condition, and market suitability from what you send, and tell you what it establishes and what it does not. We may decline any piece at our discretion.
Acceptance is confirmed in writing before any item is listed.

2. Examination in Person

Nothing is listed or certified on photographs alone. Where your piece looks right to us, we examine it in person before anything is agreed.
We come to the piece, to your home or wherever it is kept. The piece must be in the United Arab Emirates.
The visit is AED 300 in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, and AED 600 in the other Emirates, plus AED 100 for each additional piece seen at the same visit. A second address is a second visit.
The fee applies whether or not we take the piece on afterwards, and it is not deducted from our commission. That is why we propose a visit only where we already expect to accept the piece.
Where a piece needs a specialist we do not have in-house, their fee is separate and agreed with you beforehand.

3. Identification

At the examination we ask to see your Emirates ID or passport in the original and keep a copy attached to your agreement. We do not list a piece for an owner we have not identified this way. The copy is held under our Privacy Policy, used only for your consignment and any claim arising from it, and never shown to a buyer.

4. What the Examination Decides

It settles whether the piece is authentic, and whether it matches what you told us beforehand. Where it does not, we do not take it on and no certificate is issued; the visit fee still applies.

Where it does, and you decide to sell with us, we issue a Certificate of Authenticity for the piece: a document written for that object alone, setting out what it is, its condition, what our examination established and what it could not. It is yours to keep whether or not the piece sells, and a copy goes to the buyer with the piece if it does. It is our own document, not a legally recognised appraisal, an insurance valuation or a court document.

5. Commission

Upon a successful sale, AATEEQ retains a commission of 15% of the final sale price, with a minimum of AED 500. You receive the remaining balance. There are no listing fees.

6. Custody & Handling

You choose, before the visit is booked, whether we keep the piece or you do.
If we keep it, no deposit is taken. We hold it for the consignment period and hand it to the buyer directly when it sells. What we undertake about a piece in our care is set out in the agreement you sign.
If you keep it, a deposit is held for each piece, set by our estimate of the piece and paid when you sign. It is returned in full when the consignment ends, or set against our commission if the piece sells.
Where you keep the piece you agree to hold it exactly as we examined it, not to offer or sell it anywhere else while it is with us, and to hand it over within twenty-four hours of a sale closing. The deposit stands behind those three things and is forfeited if you withdraw early, offer it elsewhere, alter, damage or lose it, present a different piece, or cannot be reached for seven days.

7. Listing & Auction Parameters

AATEEQ determines the listing presentation, starting price, reserve price, buyout price, auction duration, and bidding rules, in consultation with you where practical. Our experience guides these decisions to maximise your outcome.

A consignment runs for two consecutive auction rounds, or for two calendar months in the store.

8. Payment to Consignor

You are paid after the buyer has completed full payment and the ten-day inspection window in our Return & Refund Policy has closed.
Payment is made by bank transfer once funds have cleared.

9. Unsold Items

At the end of the period you may take the piece back, run it again, or move it to the other route. At auction you may move to the store at the end of any round. From the store you may move to auction at the end of the two months, and moving to auction begins a fresh two-round commitment. Your deposit is returned in full and the Certificate of Authenticity stays with you.

10. Ownership & Warranties

By consigning, you confirm that you are the legal owner of the piece (or are authorised to sell it), that it is free of any liens or claims, that it was lawfully acquired and lawfully brought into the UAE, and that all information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. If any of that proves untrue we may withdraw the piece at once and end the agreement; the visit fee is not refunded and any deposit is forfeited.

11. Authenticity

Every piece sold through AATEEQ carries our authenticity guarantee, whether it belongs to us or to a consignor. Your piece is covered exactly as our own stock is. The guarantee rests on the confirmations you give in section 10, and what happens in the rare event that a piece is later shown not to be authentic is set out in the agreement you sign.

12. Privacy

A consigned piece is listed as sold by a private vendor. We do not publish your name, and the buyer's copy of the Certificate of Authenticity does not carry it, unless you tell us in writing at signing that you are happy to be named.

13. Liability

AATEEQ handles consigned items with professional care. Our liability in relation to a consigned item is limited to the terms agreed for that specific consignment. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
