A rare 19th-century French medical irrigator known as the “Irrigateur du Docteur Eguisier”, crafted in pewter with brass fittings and a spring-operated internal mechanism. Invented in the 1840s, this type of apparatus was designed to provide a controlled, continuous flow of liquid through a base-mounted tap, making it an important innovation in early medical and personal hygiene equipment.
The front brass plaque reads “Seul Véritable Irrigateur du Dr. Eguisier” and refers to exhibition recognition from 1849and 1867, reflecting the device’s long commercial presence during the 19th century.
