An antique French fashion print from La Corbeille, Journal de Modes, dated 1 December 1868. The illustration shows two elegantly dressed women in a refined interior setting, one standing beside books and the other seated near a piano, capturing the grace and formality of Second Empire-era fashion.
The image is signed in print by Héloïse Leloir, the original illustrator, and Louis Berlier, the engraver. Héloïse Leloir, born Héloïse Suzanne Colin, was a 19th-century French artist and fashion illustrator known for her elegant depictions of Parisian dress. Coming from an artistic family, she became one of the notable female names associated with French fashion illustration of the period.
Printed and likely hand-colored, the piece is later framed in a gilt-tone frame, giving it a warm decorative presence with strong period charm.
